The lawn bowling equivalent of the Cal-Stanford is the Meat Axe Tournament. This annual event has taken place almost every year since 1958. In this year's edition, Berkeley LBC retained possession of the trophy by winning 9 of 15 games. Palo Alto will host the 2013 event at their home green.

In this series of photos, President Geoff Chandler and Interclub Tournament Director Howard Mackie accept the Meat Axe Trophy from Palo Alto's Ginger Harris and David Hale. The trophy is the subject of an annual tournament that has been going since 1958. It has been with the Palo Alto club for the past 11 years. We're quite excited to have in hanging on our clubhouse wall this year.

Berkeley LBC club members came together to celebrate the birthdays of Ted Crum, Gerard Lazo, and Jerry Leech. We also enjoyed a great pot luck meal and some Prosecco to celebrate the return of the Meat Axe trophy from Palo Alto.

Another great day of bowling in Berkeley!

Along with hundreds of lawn bowling clubs across the country, BLBC held our annual open house. We had lots of visitors, wonderful crisp weather, good food and a lot of fun.

The singles tournament for 2010 was a great success. Fourteen bowlers participated in a fantastic, fun-filled day. We played two fourteen end games to select the top four who played a third game to select the finalists – Ted Crum and Jim Corr. Jim was able to hold on for the win over Senior Coach Crum who, by the way, is amazing at 88!

Bowlers from around the bay area gathered at BLBC for the annual Berkeley Jamboree hosted by Howard and Barbara Mackey. Lively competition and wonderful weather produced a great day on the green punctuated by an ice cream break between games.
